Is it normal for sows to have dry, flaky skin? It seems to be getting a bit worse. I’m wondering if we are missing something in their feed or?? Any ideas on how to improve will be appreciated.

We had the same issue with our hogs. We finally added a mineral ration to their feed, we use a lactating sow mineral . We put 4 oz per head per day in the feed and that seemed to do the trick, plus you are covering any other mineral deficiency the may have. Our hogs look much better since we started with the mineral. Ours get dry and flaky in the winter also. We don’t do anything unless it gets really bad. Adding some vitamin E supplements could help or some Black Oil Sunflower Seeds.

We had the same issue. We have added a mineral supplement with our feed ration. We use a sow lactation mineral 4 oz per head per day and we no longer have this issue and we are supplying any other minerals that the hogs may be lacking
