What bloodlines are you looking for. This could help a potential seller get in touch with you. What bloodlines do you already have?
Do you have any feeders ready to butcher?
It is not something that our breeders should be doing. When you get a chance, please call me 800-687-1942..
Could be due to stress? If the animals were moved or someone was moved near to them or away from them just prior to farrowing. Odd about two of them though.
Congratulations!! Let them all remain hale and hearty!
Also, animals sometimes “know” if their git will not be viable and choose to abandon them or kill them in order to give more to those that they “know” will survive. I have had kittens born slightly deformed and the mother would kill it even though it would have lived. Horses do this as well. I have had to bottle feed a number of foals that the mother would have killed, only to learn that later in life they were “just not right”.
Congratulations!! Newborn piggies are always so cute!!
Excellent break down. That helps a lot! We are looking forward to the lard as well. We have several customers interested in the lard portion and sausage and BACON!! Everyone is interested in the bacon quality. We won’t have pure LB to butcher for a while yet, but I am thrilled to pieces with the progress thus far. Our crosses are almost all spoken for… we are trying to make sure we have at least one for ourselves!
Darren believes ours are about the same weight, about 80#. They are on pasture and not quite full feed. They seem to be growing at a faster rate than the Tamworth cousins. They definitely aren’t as toned yet, but working on it. They seem to be happy and are much more social than when the first got here.
